National Environmental Management Authority(NEMA)

Environmental Impact Assessment is conducted to determine whether a proposed or activity may have negative impacts on the environment and society and is undertaken before a project starts. Public participation in the EIA process is mandatory.

Depending on the nature of the project, a decision of the Authority to approve or reject an application will take between 4 and 60 days a below;

Though not limited, we offer the followings Products Vis:-

  • Summary Project (SPR) - 5 days - e.g - Establishment of garages.
  • Comprehensive (CPR) - 21 days - e.g - Housing units below 100, boreholes.
  • Study Reports (SR) - 60 days - e.g - Establishment of hospitals, dams, industries.

You have a right to appeal the decision of the Authority at the National environment Tribunal (NET).

The NEMA processing fee for each category of the project is 0.1% of the total project cost.

NB: All licensed project operators must undertake environmental audits annually and must involve the project affected persons
